2020 Torch FC Staff & Player Expectations Because of your desire to serve the Lord through the ministry of the BuxMont Torch, we ask that you commit yourself to grow in your faith through daily personal devotions, and to whole-heartedly involve yourself in all the activities associated with this ministry. These activities include, but are not limited to: practices, games, sports ministry sessions, discipleship meetings, promotional activities, and outreach ministry opportunities. The members of the BuxMont Torch Ministry Team are highly visible representatives not only of the organization but, more importantly, of Jesus Christ. Years of hard work building a testimony in our community and in our league can be undone in a few unguarded moments. For this reason, we ask you to commit to the following for the duration of your involvement:I will seek to be obedient to the Word of God. "But be doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves" (James 1:22).I will have at least three people pray for me as I serve God through this mission."Finally, brothers, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored" (2 Thessalonians 3:1).Recognizing that without Christ I am selfish and prideful and recognizing that the glory of God is revealed when Christian brothers and sisters live together in unity, I therefore commit to live in a spirit of service with my teammates, coaches, staff and co-workers."1If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from His love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus" (Phil. 2:1-5).Because sexual sin is one of Satan’s most destructive traps, I commit to sexual purity and will "avoid all appearances of evil" (1 Thessalonians 5:22)."Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry" (Colossians3:5). If married, I commit to faithfulness to my spouse. "Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure" (Hebrews 13:4).I will guard my mouth and will be diligent to not use any manner of speech that will hinder the work of Jesus Christ, including gossiping, backbiting, complaining, and profanity."Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen" (Ephesians 4:29). “Do everything without complaining or arguing so that you may become n=blameless and pure children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation in which you shine like starts in the universe as you hold out the word of life” (Philippians 2:14-16a).I understand there are differences in opinion regarding drinking alcohol. Because the leadership of the BuxMont Torch desires to "stay above reproach" and has taken the position that abstinence is the best approach for those in ministerial leadership, I will commit to not consume any alcohol as long as I am a member of the team. I will also abstain from using tobacco and illegal drugs."So that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ" (Philippians 1:10).I will have a strong work ethic both on and off the field, in ministry, in practice and in play. This includes attendance and punctuality at all pertinent functions (practices, games, sports ministry sessions, discipleship times, etc.) unless urgent circumstances prevent it and my absence has been cleared with the leadership beforehand."Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving" (Colossians 3:23-24).NameDateAre you human?(required)By clicking on submit, you are affirming your commitment to abide by these expectations.SubmitThis field should be left blank
